  Tax question: How are illegals paid at farms, lawn care, construction, etc?

  i was wondering how exactly is it that illegals can get paid and be under the radar?

  a business takes in cash.

  at farms, construction, etc, most probably comes in from checks and credit.

  It's been a broken system for a long time. Many jobs for them come from framing, construction and slaughter houses. Jobs most in this country will not do anymore because it hard work. This broken system has been supported by big business for a long time. My question is who is more responsible for this problem the illegal immigrants or the businesses that hire them? Even with normal home construction it very common to be paid under the table for your work no matter who you are. If everything was above board the cost of a new house would skyrocket. There is a unspoken underground economy that has been taking lace for along time. Still Totally ADD

  What JW habits do you still have?

  since leaving the jw's after over 4 decades, i can see exactly what it is and hate everything it stands for.

  however, there are still some jw habits and traits that i can't get rid of:.

  1. i can't swear in general conversation (i'd have to be really angry).

  Funny when you said black pudding I was thinking chocolate pudding. Lol we had alot of that at the convention.

  Don't like any supernatural stuff where ever we go we are first to get there. I turn atheists but still am part of a UU congregation but most here in this congregation are atheists. The only thing I will tell other people about religion is it's a snare and a racket. Still Totally ADD

  Just watch the video and to be frank it was depressing. But most likely the ones standing in the field would find there would be no one to help them. It reminds me of a picture I saw when I was a teenager of a girl putting a flower in the barrel of a gun showing the police they want peace.. Still Totally ADD

  192-page books

  this is my 192nd post, so i thought it'd be fitting to ask a somewhat banal question which i've occasionally pondered over the years.

  does anyone know what's behind the wt's penchant for 192-page books?

  is there some kind of logistical reason for this?

  Fred good question about the 192 page book. I have no idea but maybe it was a number made up years ago for convince sake on how many pages to write for future books or maybe the Borg knew 192 pages is all one could stomach per book lol.   Update after attending one day of a regional. au.

  hi all.. personal experience.

  attended a regional convention in melbourne australia.. saturday attendance,, 1,500 approx.. baptism,, 11. about 8 born ins ,,, all 8 under 20yo and 5 under 17.. 3 of the 11 appeared to be over 20 and are not born ins.. sounds about .8% increase ,,, kind of.. the outstanding part of the day was the continual reference to ' are you, can you do more'.

  ha ha fear obligation guilt.. jtg.

  just got word one of my favorite friends died a year ago!

  only now have i heard about it.

  he remained a devout jehovah's witness--so--he could not/would not speak to me.

  So sorry for your loss. I to have a good friend still in the cult and I wonder if I will ever be able to talk to him again. It was said it is like losing your friend twice. How true that is. You are such a great story teller and I thank you for that. Take care. Still Totally ADD

  1969 Awake on Education - A Sore Spot for Me

  my father would have started college 49 years ago this week.

  about three months earlier, the week he graduated high school, the awake!

  magazine came out with some very clear direction to teenagers.

  I was 15 at the time that awake came out. I remember my dad took me aside and went over that article. He told me I will not have to worry about any higer education after high school. He also said all through my childhood I would never grow old and die and armagadon would most likely come before I graduated from school. As we all know time has keep marching on. The borg is still vomiting out of their mouths this same old shit. How stupid I have been all these years. The only good thing we did was make sure our two boys went to a vocational school to learn a good trade. You should have seen the heat I got from elders and co's and others for encouraging that.

  Arguments I’ve Had: Historical Accuracy and the Bible

  when i was a jw and still living with my parents i remember the way my father held what could almost be described as contempt for archeologists, paleontologists, and other scientists who dared to try explain what happened in past.

  he justified this attidtude with the argument that these people don’t have enough evidence to make such claims with any certainty.

  however, i see now that his viewpoint was more likely a defense mechanism to protect his presupposed conclusion that everything described in the bible actually happened.

  Saethydd what a great post and I want to thank you for it. I learned a new word Ad Hoc and how it is used in wrong reasoning. I now understand even more how cults have such a strong hold on so many people. Again thank you. Still Totally ADD
